About this addon
What it does
Hindsight is 20/20.
Compares your build, rotation and deaths against the top parses on your fight, and tells you what to change.
Discord: https://discord.gg/https://discord.gg/tN5uRMJYQ — bug reports, suggestions, roadmap.
Open it between pulls. Hindsight compares your last pull against reference data built from public Warcraft Logs rankings for your spec, your hero tree, on this boss or dungeon — and tells you what was different, how sure it is, and what it cannot see.
The four tabs
OVERVIEW — triage. Three cards summarize your build, execution and survival for the selected encounter, each with the count of things worth looking at. Below them: the specific findings, and a "tonight" line with your session, last pull, and prog trend. You decide which tab to open from here.
BUILD — your talents against the sampled parses. The tree shows where you diverge (legend on top: blue ring = they take it and you don't, violet = you take it and they mostly don't). Below it: reference choices you missed sorted by how many parses take each one, your unique choices, field splits where the reference itself disagrees, and a reference build you can copy.
EXECUTION — role-aware. DPS get opener, priority and casting scorecards; healers get spell mix and overheal (the healer number that compares honestly across pulls) with a casting-pattern strip. Casts-per-minute bars show your rate against the reference median per ability, merged by spell id so renamed and override spells don't split into phantom rows. Keys are compared whole-run, trash included, and the scorecard says so.
SURVIVAL — the tab that looks across all your pulls on the boss. Every death with its cause, a damage timeline of the seconds before you died (killing blow marked), which defensives were ready, active, or on cooldown at that moment, and recurring death patterns across the night. Deaths in non-keystone dungeons and outside recorded pulls are kept too — a bricked key is where the learning is.
What makes it different
Evidence over verdicts. There is no combined score. Each card shows the measurement itself — "13 of 15 positions matched", "3.4 vs 24.4 per minute" — because you can check a measurement and you can't check an "87".
It states its confidence. Every finding carries how many sampled parses agree and how many logs that is. Three people agreeing is reported as three people, not as high confidence.
It names its blind spots. Movement, assignments, raid strategy, procs, and (for healers) who you healed and whether they needed it are not visible to an addon. When the reference blends two hero trees, the figures render without a verdict. /hind how prints the full list of what is and is not compared. A comparison is not a verdict.

Notes
The minimap button is drawn by Hindsight rather than through LibDBIcon, so minimap-management addons can't group or hide it — use /hind minimap (and /hind minimap reset if it ends up somewhere awkward). Hindsight also appears in the addon compartment and under Options → AddOns.
Combat logging is off by default. /hind autolog turns on automatic logging while you're in a raid or dungeon, and it stops when you leave.
Data
Reference data is generated per season from public Warcraft Logs rankings and Raider.IO, and ships inside the addon — nothing is fetched in-game. Source players are anonymized ("a top parse"). The window header and /hind version show the data's build date and season. Occasionally the reference lists an ability your client can't link to anything you cast (usually the other hero tree, occasionally a data error); Hindsight names these and excludes them from scoring rather than reporting a difference that isn't there.
Requirements
- World of Warcraft: Midnight, patch 12.1 (Interface 120100)
- No dependencies
Licence
GPL-3.0-or-later. Reference data derived from public Warcraft Logs rankings and Raider.IO.
Support
Hindsight is free and every feature stays free — that's not a promise about intent, it's the licence. If you want to help cover the Warcraft Logs API access behind the reference data, there's a Patreon: https://patreon.com//cw/HindsightWoW
